She makes pottery with the theme of "Family tableware" in Kanagawa Prefecture. Her designs are friendly and approachable, and she creates fun tableware to use with children. For KIGOCOCHI, we have selected her works with animal motifs. She is a potter who I would like children to choose for their first pottery.
For the first tea bowl
A small rice bowl made for children. On a simple white background, a little bird is drawn in blue, flapping its wings with all its might. This is a drawing of the plover, which has long been a standard motif for blue and white pottery, with a touch unique to Mr. Tanabe. It is a motif that is also popular as "wave plover" combined with waves, but Mr. Tabe draws trees around it. It's "forest plover" instead of "wave plover".
You can see the expressions unique to handwork, such as the traces of the potter's wheel and iron powder. It would be fun to think with your child, "What kind of person made it?" and "How did it made?"
A picture is drawn to surround the whole bowl.
I found a cute bird on the bottom. It's like a reward for working hard and eating everything.
It is one size smaller than a typical rice bowl.
Choose from two patterns: “Little bird” and “ Nut wreath ”.
