He is a potter making pottery in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture. From an early age, he helped his British father, who was active in Kasama, with the climbing kiln, and is currently active as the second generation of the kiln. He cherishes the "folk art spirit", such as local production for local consumption of raw materials and passing on the tradition of Kasama ware. On the other hand, by adding a modern sensibility to the modeling, he pursues a modern folk art that is unique to him.
Small but mighty
It is a small plate that is slightly larger and thicker than a typical mamezara. You can feel the plump atmosphere of Kasama ware. The contrast between the natural milky color on the inside and the persimmon glaze on the outside makes the expression of the pottery very interesting and cool.
Although it is called a “condiment” small plate, it can be used for various purposes such as Japanese sweets and pickles.
