A husband and wife make pottery in Komono-cho, Mie Prefecture, which is close to Banko-yaki, which is famous for heat-resistant pots such as earthenware pots. By intentionally leaving the distortions created during the production process, the pottery is made with a lovely, plump appearance.
All of the bowls can be used in the microwave, which is great for everyday use.
A square plate that comes in handy
Among the overwhelming number of round plates, square plates are surprisingly useful. Since it is square, it can be used widely.
At Craft Ishikawa, we use a technique called “tatara molding,” in which a plate of clay is pressed against a plaster mold to shape it . By intentionally leaving the "distortion" that occurs in this process, a good "looseness" that makes the user feel warm is born .
"Shikaku Plate" is available in 2 sizes. 22 cm in length and width is a size that can be used for one plate as well as when you want to serve plenty . It works well every day.
The one on the right is twice as small. It can also be used as a serving plate.
