He studied pottery in Kyoto and is currently based in Shizuoka Prefecture. Mr. Akahori makes a perfect balance of "simple and cute, but not too cute". Enamel products are the inspiration. A comfortable balance is expressed by adding distortion and fluctuation unique to pottery to the inorganic beauty of enamel.
A small bowl that looks like a storage container
A square bowl that stood up straight. You can enjoy using it in combination with other vessels.
If you attach a translucent lid, you can mistake it for an enamel storage container. Unlike enamel, it cannot be used in an open fire or oven, but it is also nice that it can be microwaved.
Between inorganic matter and manual labor
This series, which is eye-catching with its neat white and the lines that border the rim, was inspired by enamel products. While based on the inorganic beauty of enamel, it also has the warmth of pottery.
It is a part that I would like you to enjoy the distortion and fluctuation that can be confirmed by looking carefully. Seen from a distance, it looks plain and sophisticated. But when you look closer, you can feel the cuteness and loveliness. Akahori's pottery lies between inorganic and handwork.
